Description
Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 teaches professionals to accomplish technical tasks such as installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server instances. Securing data using transparent data encryption, managing data resource usage with the resource governor and standardizing data with policies are a few of relatively new features that are covered in this class. Master data services, utility control points and deploying data-tier application packages are new to SQL Server 2008 R2 and are also taught in this class.


Skills Taught
Upon completion of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Implementation and Maintenance, the student will be able to:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize databases

Audience
This course is recommended for individuals who have jobs in which database administration is their main area of responsibility, or who work in environments in which databases are central to their job roles.

Prerequisites
Candidates for the exam should have one to two years of experience using SQL Server 2008 or two to three years of experience using a previous version of SQL Server. Students who are not taking the exam but are interested in learning about SQL Server 2008 should have previous experience in database environments. These environments can be driven by any vendor’s database solution.
