Description
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to update and support a reliable, scalable and secure Exchange 2003 messaging infrastructure in a medium to large-sized (250 to 5,000 seats) environment.

Skills Taught
After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Install Exchange Server 2003, including configuring extension to the Active Directory schema
  • Understand the procedures for upgrading Exchange 2000 to Exchange Server 2003
  • Configure manage and troubleshoot Exchange Server 2003
  • Configure and manage interoperability between Exchange Server 2003 and other messaging systems including Exchange 2000
  • Secure Exchange Server 2003 and the message traffic that is transferred between servers in the same organization and between organizations
  • Manage recipients, including automating the creation and modification of user accounts and properties
  • Manage public folder creation, replication and maintenance
  • Create and manage address lists to include custom address lists, offline address lists and address list filtering
  • Manage mobile devices with Exchange Server 2003
  • Plan a comprehensive strategy for fault tolerance and disaster recovery to include backups and redundancy

Audience
This course is intended for messaging support professionals who are currently employed or are seeking employment in medium-to-large environments (250 to 5,000 seats) with multiple physical locations, mixed-client connection protocols, wireless, and Internet messaging connectivity.

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students should have:
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 technologies
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and services including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Working knowledge of standard Internet protocols, including Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) or Internet Message Access Protocol version 4 (IMAP4), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), and Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP
