Description
Windows Server 2008 R2: Building a Virtualization
Infrastructure with Hyper-V and SCVMM is a course designed to help students
develop the skills needed to implement and manage a virtualized environment
based upon Microsoft server technologies. This course includes details of how to
implement and manage a Hyper-V server directly on a Server 2008 R2 server and
how to centrally manage a heterogeneous environment through System Center
Virtual Machine Manager 2008 (SCVMM). The course also includes in-depth topics
of how to correctly provide virtualization-based disaster recovery, high
availability options, including Live Migration using Cluster Shared Volumes, how
to accurately monitor performance using PRO tips, and how to provide virtual
machines through remote desktop services, also known as Virtual Desktop
Infrastructure (VDI).

Skills Taught
After completing this course, the student should be able to:
  • Installing and Configuring Host and Parent Settings
  • Configuring Child Settings
  • Managing and Monitoring Virtual Environments
  • Ensuring High Availability and Recoverability
  • Performing Migration
  • Configuring Remote Desktop (RD) Role Services Infrastructure

Audience
Windows Server 2008 R2: Building a Virtualization
Infrastructure with Hyper-V and SCVMM was developed for system administrators
who want to learn how to implement and manage Microsoft’s server virtualization
technologies on their network. Typical students are researching, implementing,
or are currently responsible for virtualization. This class is also designed to
help students who want a preparation framework of readiness for the 70-659 exam.
