Duration:30 hours

Delivery Type:Expert Encore

Description
Implementing Cisco IP Multicast provides students with in-depth knowledge of the IP multicast building blocks that make this IP service deployable and attractive from a business perspective. Bandwidth and processing power are wasted when data is replicated and sent from a source to potential receivers multiple times. With IP multicast and a sophisticated group of protocols, the information is delivered with minimal impact on bandwidth and processor load. This IP service ensures simultaneous information delivery only to the devices that require the information.

Skills Taught
Upon completion of the MCAST course, the student will be able to:
  • Describe the need for IP multicast technology
  • Describe the characteristics of various multicast protocols
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot PIM Dense Mode
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot PIM Sparse Mode
  • Identify where to use reliable IP multicasting options
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Pragmatic General Multicast (PGM)
  • Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot IP multicast at the Data Link Layer, in both Ethernet and NBMA environments
Audience
System Engineers, Account Managers, Channel Partner/Reseller, & Customers
