IP Telephony Design (IPTD) 1.0
 | Duration: | 30 hours |
 | Skill Level: | Intermediate |
 | Certifications: | N/A |
 | Delivery Type: | Expert Encore |
| Description |
Successful IP telephony implementations must start with a detailed and well-planned design. As prospective designers of IP telephony solutions, students of this course will learn about designing, or redesigning, the enterprise LAN and sizing WAN links to support IP telephony. Students learn about sizing and positioning voice gateways, calculating the processing power required to support IP telephony, positioning and sizing Cisco CallManager clusters, and designing the dial plan and emergency services. Students also learn about securing the IP telephony solution. This critical course in IP telephony takes a very “real-world” approach to the course materials, allowing students to practice IP telephony designs using mock scenarios based on real network topologies. Comprehensive design exercises include a multi-campus, multi-site organization that is migrating from a circuit-switched telephony network to a packet-switched telephony network.

| Skills Taught |
Upon completion of the IP Telephony Design (IPTD) course, the student will be able to:
- Design a large campus LAN to support an IP telephony solution, calling on expert and peer support
- Design a fast, secure, highly available WAN link with the quality of service needed to support the IP telephony solutions
- Design an IP telephony solution
- Design a multisite WAN with centralized call-processing IP telephony solution in accordance with the Cisco IP Telephony Solution Reference Network Design guide
|
