Description
The Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 2 course is the second half of the ICND curriculum. The goal of this course is to provide students with the key skills to be successful when deploying routers and switches in a medium-sized network. The ICND Part 2 course focuses on the configuration of routing, VLANs and security. This course provides preparation for the 640-816 ICND2 exam. Students pursuing the CCNA certification should attend parts 1 & 2 of the ICND training

Skills Taught

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Configure and troubleshoot routed and switched internetworks
  • Expand a small-sized, switched LAN to a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree
  • Describe routing concepts as they apply to a medium-sized network and discuss considerations when implementing routing on the network
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot single-area OSPF
  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot EIGRP
  • Determine how to apply ACLs based on network requirements, and configure, verify, and troubleshoot ACLs on a medium-sized network
  • Describe when to use NAT or PAT on a medium-sized network and configure NAT or PAT on routers
  • Explain IPv6 addressing and configure IPv6 on a Cisco router
  • Identify and implement the appropriate WAN technology based on network requirements

This course provides instruction in the use of the following hardware technologies:
Cisco Catalyst 2940/2960/2970 switches
Cisco ISR-capable routers (for example, Cisco 2800/3800/2900 Series routers)
Other IOS-based routers such as 2600 and 3600 series routers

Audience

Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 2 is an essential course for students preparing for the CCNA certifications. Students pursuing the CCNA certification should attend parts 1 & 2 of the ICND course.

Prerequisites
Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 is a recommended prerequisite to this course. To get the most out of the classroom experience, students new to computer and network architecture should consider taking the CompTIA Network+ course prior to entry into the challenging Cisco curriculum.
