Description
Cisco Voice over IP (CVOICE) v8.0 introduces the components that make up a VoIP network, and then provides multiple examples of how to configure these VoIP components and associated protocols, while providing the high quality that voice users were accustomed to with their legacy telephony system. The main goal of our expert-led CVOICE course is to introduce learners to the function and configuration of Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies, and provide design guidance for selecting VoIP protocols. Since no two networks are alike, our practical and effective approach enables a student to apply the knowledge gained in this course to their specific needs.

Skills Taught

Upon completion of the Implementing Cisco Voice Communications and QoS (CVOICE) v8 course, the student will have the skills required to: 

  • Explain what a voice gateway is, how it works, and describe its usage, components, and features.
  • Describe the characteristics and configuration elements of VoIP call legs.
  • Describe how to implement IP phones using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express.
  • Describe the components of a dial plan and explain how to implement a dial plan on a Cisco Unified voice gateway.
  • Explain what gatekeepers and Cisco Unified Border Elements (CUBEs) are, how they work, and what features they support.
  • Describe why Quality of Service (QoS) is needed, what functions it performs, and how it can be implemented in a Cisco Unified Communications network

    Audience

    This course is recommended for any student interested in mastering Voice over IP technology. It is also perfect for students interested in pursuing any of Cisco’s many IP telephony specializations or the Cisco Certified Network Professional Voice Professional (CCNP Voice) certification.

    Prerequisites
    The knowledge and skills that a learner must have before attending this course are as follows:
    • Working knowledge of fundamental terms and concepts of computer networking including LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing
    • Ability to configure and operate Cisco IOS routers in IP environment at the CCNA level
    • Basic knowledge of traditional voice, converged voice, and data networks at the CCNA Voice level
